Rachel Hair – Clarsach/ Traditional Harp

Rachel Hair is one of the finest young players the traditional Harp. Of mixed Irish and Scots parentage, she was born and brought up in the Scottish Highland village of Ullapool, where she learnt to play the clarsach, the traditional Celtic harp.

Since graduating with a first class honours degree in Music from Strathclyde University, Rachel has been working as a full-time professional musician, and has toured throughout Europe, the USA and Asia.

She has performed on the famous BBC TV Hogmanay Live show with top Musicians Eddie Reader, Phil Cunningham, and Karen Matheson, and was featured playing in the BBC’s “Celtic Connections” documentary.

Her debut solo album “Hubcaps and Potholes”, was released in 2006 to critical acclaim:

"Her deft, sensitive playing displays a freshness and rhythmic vitality as well as notable technical prowess"**** The Scotsman

"It would be difficult to find another Celtic music debut album of such consistent quality and beauty...a superb player" Rambles.net

While not performing on the Celtic Music scene, Rachel is one of Scotland’s busiest and most experienced wedding harpers, and regularly plays at many of Scotland’s most exclusive wedding venues including:

  Edinburgh Castle
Gleneagles Hotel
Cameron House
Stirling Castle
One Devonshire Gardens

Her music is perfectly suited for wedding ceremonies, receptions or corporate events, and she is always happy to discuss your personal requirements before hand.
