A
Scottish Themed Event

-A
Scottish event in a Scottish Location.
This is a theme that we
have organised with great success for international
audiences in castles, art galleries, marquees and
hotels. It can be tailored to suit any size of event and
the individual parts can be booked separately or
together.
A Taste of Scotland
A pipe band magnificent in full dress uniform, or solo
piper, playing tunes of welcome will greet the audience
on arrival. Gas torches will frame the outside doorways
As people enter the reception area soft background music
from a Clarsach (Celtic Harp) or Scottish trio helps
create just the right atmosphere. Hostesses in long
traditional dresses and tartan sashes will meet and
greet the guests helping with coats and jackets and
general information.
Authentic backdrops frame the stage area with tall pine
trees softly lit in purples and green. Creative lighting
and other props will enhance the walls and pillars.
Tables are set in beautiful linen with matching chair
covers or tartan runners and napkins. Table centres
consisting of a tall vase filled with traditional
flowers, foliage, thistles, twigs and long grasses
intertwined with led lit fairy lights. Or rustic ivy
entwined wrought iron candelabras.
During dinner the atmosphere builds with music from a
Scottish trio or Celtic harp performing a selection of
traditional Scottish tunes with close up magicians and
caricaturists working at the tables. This is always
popular with international audiences. If Haggis is on
the menu the pipe major will pipe it in and address the
haggis. This is a traditional ceremony and is popular at
Burns nights and Scottish events.
At coffee the pipe band will march into the room, play a
selection of popular tunes, perform a drum salute and
accompany a troupe of Highland Dancers dressed in
traditional costume performing jigs, and hornpipe or
sword dance. This is guaranteed to get the cameras
clicking. As an alternative to the band a solo piper
will accompany the dancers.
After dinner the Scottish fiddler Karen Hunter
entertains with a virtuoso performance. Karen never
fails to enthral international audiences as she takes
them on a musical journey of traditional Scottish music.
Her virtuosity is truly breathtaking. Karen has a lively
personality and skips her way through her repertoire of
haunting melodies and foot tapping fiddle tunes. Karen
is dressed in a mini kilt and traditional blouse or
evening dress.
If Dancing is an option a ceilidh band is an excellent
way to get the audience participating. The caller will
step the audience through some of the most popular
Scottish dances like Strip the Willow, The Dashing White
Sergeant and the pride of Earn.
At the end the doors will open and the Pipe band will
march into the room to “Beat the Retreat” with a
selection of tunes. The drum major will then march the
band out into the night continuing to play as the guests
leave.
Once everyone is outside listening to the pipes a band
of wild highland Warriors charge forward taking everyone
by surprise and engage in hand to hand combat. Once this
is over the dead, wounded and victors join the guests
for photographs. The pipers continue to play as the
guests depart.
piper or pipe band is
the traditional way to welcome guests at a wedding. The
